Echoes

A pool of shadow by the door,
a soundly sleeping cat.

The creak of floorboards in the hall,
an eager running child.

The smell of sun on new mown grass,
a careless summer day.

A breath of air upon the cheek,
a gentle parting kiss.

A memory stirs in mundane life,
an echo from the past.
